Arch Tech designed the build-out of suites C & D. Each suite is accessed from a clean corridor into a Class 100,000 Staging Area. All raw materials, samples, and finished products are passed in and out of the Class 10,000 Suites via pass-throughs. Wastes are taken out of the suites without passing through the Staging Areas; all personnel and waste flows are one way.
At the rear of the suites, a custom-designed “equipment wall” allows incubators and other equipment to be inserted into the clean suites from a Technical Area. Equipment can be serviced from the Technical Area without disrupting suite operations, and replaced with minimal impact on operations.
Because Lonza’s requirements had changed since the original build-out of Suites A & B, Arch Tech was faced with the challenge of designing Suites C & D with more equipment in a space that was intended to replicate the original two suites. Client driven, more than two dozen alternative designs were prepared to analyze process flows and optimize functional arrangements, before the final design was decided upon.
